After four months of planning, a mock emergency exercise involving real-time emergency presence, “Exercise Orion”, will be taking place on Thursday 6th September on the Lancaster University Campus between 10am and 1pm.

The areas that will be affected will be clearly marked on the day. However, it is already known that Exercise Orion will mainly focus around the Lancaster Environment Centre, The Biomedical and Life Sciences building and the Library Avenue area.

On the matter, the University has told SCAN that the exercise is part of a ‘rolling programme of emergency incident training with the emergency services’ that aims to ensure that ‘the University and our partners are fully prepared for all eventualities’.

Exercise Orion has been organised by Lancaster University representatives in cooperation with fire service, police, the University’s residential partnership provider UPP, and Lancaster City Council representatives.
